Guild Challenge: A Novel Idea

My quilt guild's Challenge exhibit is tomorrow evening, and for once, I feel ahead of the game. Yay!

Guild Challenge: binding and sleeve attached.
I'm usually "Queen of the Last Minute" when it comes to finishing Challenge pieces. For me, the majority of the allotted time for these projects is spent on concept and design—which happens in my head. However, this afternoon I finished the binding (a facing) and attached the sleeve... and it was still daylight.

Here's the proof (and a sneak peak). Blank's Fusion Illusion in navy was used for the backing.

This year's Guild Challenge is entitled, "A Novel Idea." Each guild member brought in a book or novel and we were asked to turn to a specific page, paragraph and sentence. The "found" sentence served as the inspiration for the Challenge piece, which was to finish approximately 18 inches.

My book is Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. My sentence: "They had grown up among movie stars, but to them Jobs was a true celebrity."

It was a good Challenge and I can't wait to see the other entries. Stay tuned... all will be revealed at tomorrow's guild meeting.
