How to make a slip knot:



Casting on
Here is an easy one-needle cast on. This is called the thumb method but you can also do it using your index finger.

The knit stitch

KnittingHelp.com shows the Continental style first (holding the working yarn in the left hand). Scroll down to find the English method (holding the working yarn in the right hand).

In this video, she uses her thumb and index finger to hold the stitches on the needles.

The purl stitch

KnittingHelp.com shows the purl stitch in the Continental style. She uses her middle finger to help maneuver the yarn. Scroll down the page for the English method.

This video shows the Continental style of knitting and purling. Take note of how she moves her hand to position the yarn for the purl stitch--another option you can try.

Bind-off or Cast-off
Leave enough yarn for the tail to weave in. You can also use a longer tail to sew a seam.
