Knitting videos II

Here are more helpful videos for knitters.

Increases or Adding Stitches
Knitting into the front and back of a stitch (K1fb or Kfb) to create two stitches from one. This is also called a Bar Increase as it will make a decorative bar (that looks like a purl bump) where the additional stitch is made.

Decreases or Removing Stitches
Knit two together (K2tog) is knitting two stitches together at the same time. This will decrease your stitch count by one stitch. This decrease slants to the right. A similar decrease is to purl two together (P2tog) but is less often used.

Cables
Cables are made by knitting the stitches out of sequence. A left crossing cable is made by holding stitches to the front of the work. A right crossing cable is made by holding the stitches to the back of the work.

This longer video shows knitting an entire 8 row cable pattern (RS and WS rows) including the cable cross row. It also shows the use of stitch markers.

Can't remember which row you're on in your cable pattern? Here's how to "read the work" and find your place.
